November 21, 2008
First Comes Love, Then Comes... Powers of Attorney?
In our current post-election environment, the issue of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality is again in the political landscape; most notably the rights associated with legal recognition of relationships and family structure. This 3.0 CLE hour seminar is designed to inform Ohio’s legal community of the unique legal considerations of LGBT clients as they choose to commit to long-lasting relationships and family life. “First Comes Love, Then Comes… Powers of Attorney?” will give attorneys a range of knowledge and resources best suited to serving their LGBT clients.
Presenters Thomas J. Addesa, Artz & Dewhirst; Carol Ann Fey, Counselor at Law; and Karen L. Poling, Einstein & Poling, draw from years of experience in working with clients on matters such as powers of attorney, directives, dissolution, family planning, surrogacy and custody. On Thursday, December 18, 1:30pm-4:45pm, they will cover these areas, and provide an overview of current local and other states’ laws that have an affect on Ohio LGBT headed families.
